Community Chaplaincy

The Upper Room Inclusive Catholic Community has ten certified Community Chaplains to serve the community in various capacities and ministries. Community chaplains are caring individuals who offer the gift of their skillful presence, authentic companionship and deep compassion to the places of need, hurt, loneliness and discord in their community. Often these situations arise in the presence of illness, aging and dying but can also arise in situations and settings such as community programs dedicated to social justice and activism.

Examples of service are:

  • to provide support to loved ones in elder care situations through visitation,
  • to provide caregivers with support,
  • to give a compassionate listening ear to people,
  • to provide ministry in community-based service organizations
  • to provide support to small groups of specialized needs.
