Global Ministries University In Conjunction with Pacific Institute for Essential Conversations The Certificate in Community Chaplaincy is designed for any individual who desires to be an agent of healing in their local community. Community-based chaplaincy allows caring citizens to offer the gift of their skillful presence, authentic companionship and deep compassion to the places of need, hurt, loneliness and discord in their community. Most often these situations arise in the presence of illness, aging and dying but can also arise in situations and settings such as community programs dedicated to social justice and activism. The certificate program is a six-month program with coursework and 45 hours of direct ministry. It is a new program being offered through Global Ministries University in collaboration with the Pacific Institute for Essential Conversations and the first cohort comprises 8 women co-sponsored by the Upper Room. These 8 women will join 4 other women from across the country to pilot this initiative addressing a significant need in our society. The women from the Upper Room Community are Ann Bayly, Mary Brandon, Julie Corron, Deven Horne, Terri Kersch, Ginny O’Brien, Phillis Sheppard, Mary Theresa Streck, and Deb Trees. If you would like to be contacted by any of these individuals for ministry service, please call 518–952-4172 and leave a message. Someone will contact you to arrange a communication.
