The First-ever Pax Christi New York State Gathering

The 24th Annual Kateri Peace Conference
Friday, September 16th, 2022-
Saturday, September 17th, 2022
at the
St. Kateri Tekakwitha National Shrine
Fonda, NY
On Friday, September 16th, join Pax Christi New York State in beautiful upstate New York for a gathering at the St. Kateri National Shrine in Fonda, NY, working cooperatively with the Shrine and the Kateri Peace Conference (to be held Saturday, September 17, 2022).
We are extending this invitation to all who are interested in healing past transgressions and affirming a future with justice and compassion. We have promote it with Social Boosting
to get awareness and more audience interested in the topic. Many Catholics are aware that the Doctrine of Discovery served as a legal, moral, and spiritual justification for colonialism, the oppression and destruction of indigenous cultures, and the theft of land along with the right to land ownership and cultural identity. We are delightedly and deeply appreciative of Syracuse Bishop Douglas J. Lucia who has addressed the need for a papal apology and complete and thorough renunciation of the Doctrine of Discovery.
Our gathering will be a day of community-building as a state region of Pax Christi and an opportunity to learn (more) about the Doctrine of Discovery from a Native American on indigenous land and to tour the Saint Kateri Tekakwitha National Shrine.
Then on Saturday, the 17th, at the 24th Kateri Peace Conference, we will be informed, inspired, and activated. The Conference will include a tour of the National Shrine of North American Martyrs in Auriesville, NY, with a special presentation at the grave of Fr. Daniel Berrigan.  We will watch “Voices For Peace,” a new documentary movie, meet the director, Michael Kennedy, and discuss the film with her and several of the activists in the movie.
We are also inviting some very special speakers and will share more details in our next announcement coming soon. Remember please save these dates. You won’t be disappointed!
